Poultry Ordering Information and Policies
North Star Poultry's flock is certified NPIP and Avian Influenza clean. NPIP # MT-88. We do not offer farm tours. Though we are happy to ship our birds by USPS or other arranged transport, we do not deliver or meet off farm for pick up.
American Poultry Association Standard-Bred Bourbon Red Turkeys, White Silkies, Black Stars, and Montana Red Stars are also available from Canyon Creek Poultry. We can combine orders, though you will be billed separately from North Star Poultry and Canyon Creek Poultry.
Payment Information: We accept PayPal, check, or money order. Make checks or money orders out to North Star Poultry. Full payment is required at the time of the order to finalize the order. Payments are nonrefundable, unless for some reason we are unable to fill your order, in which case whatever part of your order which was not filled (whether full or part) will be refunded. Deposits must be used within 18 months of placement, unless otherwise agreed to by the buyer and seller or unless the seller is unable to fill the reservation before the expiration of that time. Chick Availability
We routinely hatch chicks weekly January-May, and periodically through the fall. At other times chicks are often available by special order. Chicks are shipped within 24 hours of hatch, Monday-Wednesday.
Juvenile/Adult Availability
Adult and juvenile chickens are available summer through fall. They are listed as they become available. We do not take preorders for adult and juvenile birds due the tentativeness of when they will be available. When they become available, juvenile/adult birds are sold first come, first serve.

Minimum Orders
There is no minimum number of day-old chicks that you must order if you are picking them up on our farm. The standard minimum order of day-old chicks required for shipment is 15 chicks April 15-October 15, and 20 chicks October 16-April 14. The minimum may include any assortment of varieties. If the weather is unusually cold, we will ship no fewer than 20-25 chicks. We reserve the right to cancel a shipment if the weather is dangerous for chicks in shipment (overly cold or hot, hurricanes, etc.). In cold weather a small additional fee may apply for providing heat packs with the chicks. Unless otherwise noted, there is no minimum order for juvenile and adult birds.

Live chicks can be shipped via USPS Priority Mail, which is less expensive than Priority Mail Express. Please contact for current rates. Priority Mail is only available to locations where the USPS offers 2-Day Priority Mail shipments. Because the USPS does not guarantee that Priority Mail shipments will arrive within two days (whereas Priority Mail Express is guaranteed), we do not guarantee that chicks shipped via Priority Mail will arrive alive or undamaged. NOTE: In hot weather when shipping juveniles/adults by USPS would be unwise, 5 Star Livestock Transport offers a climate-controlled transportation option. 1. Chicks are graded for physical defects prior to shipment/sale. However, we are not responsible for issues that arise or manifest after shipment/sale. Refunds will only be provided for the number of chicks over and above the number of extra chicks included free of charge in the shipment/sale.
2. Live birds shipped via USPS Priority Mail Express are guaranteed to arrive alive and without permanent damage (See "Exception #1" below). Any deaths or permanent damages must be reported with clear photographic evidence (including dead/damaged birds and box with shipping labeling) within 24 hours of arrival to receive a refund. The guarantee only applies if 1., the chicks are held for pick up and picked up at a Post Office (versus delivered directly to the customer's residence, etc., which is more stressful for the chicks), and 2., if the chicks are picked up on the same business day that they arrive at the destination Post Office. In the case of deaths/damages, you must retain all shipping labels and materials until notified otherwise. Live birds shipped via USPS Priority Mail are not guaranteed to arrive alive or undamaged.
3. Only the cost of those birds that died or were permanently damaged will be refunded. Refunds do not include any living birds, other items, or shipping materials in the shipment. Refunds for birds that arrived dead or permanently damaged will at no time exceed the original purchase price. Refunds will only be provided for the number of chicks over and above the number of extra chicks included free of charge in the shipment. Refunds DO NOT include the cost of USPS shipping or other transportation--the cost of shipping and transportation is the buyer's risk. If the birds died due to shipment time that exceeded the USPS's Priority Mail Express two-day guarantee, a refund for the shipping cost can be collected from the Post Office. Photographic evidence, including labeling, must be provided to North Star Poultry within 24 hours of arrival to receive a refund from the Post Office, and you must retain all shipping labels and material until notified otherwise. At No Time Will the Guarantee Exceed the Original Purchase Price.

American Stars are guaranteed to be 90% females out of an order of ten or more female American Stars. Males must be reported with photographic evidence within 3 months of the pick up/arrival date. At no time will our guarantee exceed the original purchase price. Blue Laced Red Wyandotte and Rhode Island Red chicks are unsexed (as-hatch mix of males and females). Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, American Stars, and Sunset Stars come in an as-hatch mix of colors unless specified otherwise. We do not guarantee that all Blue Stars will be blue or all Rose-Comb Black Stars will be black (variations occasionally occur).
